appa training launched in October 2010.  We are a social enterprise, and one of few Deaf-led training providers in the United Kingdom.

We make learning fun!  We have a reputation for creating a friendly and welcoming environment for our Deaf and hearing students.  We deliver award winning, top quality training designed to rigorously match the qualifications set out by the various Awarding Organisations.  As a Deaf-led training provider, Deaf culture is central to our course design and delivery to ensure that all learners can develop their potential and succeed.

appa training provides a range of courses and training opportunities, delivered by a team of experienced Trainers, Teachers, Assessors and Internal Quality Assurers.  We have access to a number of External Quality Assurers in order to maintain training standards.  We have developed a reputation for excellence that has attracted Deaf and hearing learners from all over the world.

  • Consistently achieve 100% pass rate for NVQ programmes
  • 9 years experience of training interpreters and 4 years experience of training translators 

During this era, they team also played a leading role in the development of the Signature Level 3 Certificate in British Sign Language and the Signature Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Sign Language translation, the first professional qualification for deaf people wishing to become qualified translators, working from written English to BSL. They worked with the NRCPD for professional recognition of Translation graduates for full registration as Registered Sign Language Translators (RSLTs). The team are currently working with iBSL to further develop Deafblind qualifications.
